Come Serve VCFP Youth!
As we swing into a fresh year, we’re looking forward to seeing new volunteers step into youth ministry! God is very active in the ministry and it’s a truly life-giving place to serve. if you’re interested in learning more or getting involved, please email Matt at matt@vcfp.org. Cowabunga!

Church Directory!
It’s time for us to update our church contact database again. We want to make sure that we can keep in touch with you, that you receive the weekly emails if you would like, and that you receive any mailings we send out. We also publish a directory of contact details for the church, listing all of us who allow the information to be public. We do not use this information for business solicitation nor do we make it available to any third parties. We are sending out this form via email, so if you are not receiving weekly emails from the church office (on Tuesdays and Fridays), we will not send it to you, UNLESS you send us your email address, to info@vcfp.org. Thanks for your help! For questions, email Katie at katie@vcfp.org.

Lectio Divina Group
Would you like to get away, relax, and hear God speak to you? Come join Meg Venables and Colleen Peterson in a Lectio Divina group, on Sunday, February 5 from 9:00-9:45am, in Cubberley room A6. We’ll read a passage from the Bible, meditate on it individually, and listen for God to speak to us through His word. We plan on meeting every other Sunday morning. Questions? Contact the church office.

Prayer Ministry Training
On Sunday, February 5 and 12, from 9-9:50am we will be having our basic prayer ministry training. If you haven’t participated in this before and you’d like to be part of our prayer ministry on Sunday mornings, please come join us! It’s a great time to learn more about how we pray for each other and listen to God together. It will include a short biblical teaching, as well as time for discussion and practice. We ask people who pray for others on Sundays to participate in this at least once, and recommend that we all refresh every 4-5 years. On Sunday, February 26 we will be having a session for all pray-ers, novice or experienced, to learn more and go deeper with our experience of praying for each other. To sign-up, or if you have questions, please contact the church office.

Men’s Monthly Breakfast
Join other men for breakfast and fellowship on Tuesday, February 7, at 7:15am at Bajis' Down The Street Cafe (2423 Old Middlefield Road). As we build friendships, we strengthen both our church and our faith. And bring a friend! Questions? Contact the church office.

Church Life Meeting - Sunday, February 12, 12pm
Come join us! We will give important news about what we as a church are looking forward to this year, as well as staff and other updates. Bring your lunch and we will provide a special dessert! It’s time for everyone who considers this their church home to connect and hear what’s going on, as well as ask questions and find out how to be involved. Questions? Email liz@vcfp.org.

Hot Meals
Please join us, as we partner with InnVision to cook and serve food to the homeless and poor in our neighborhood. On Monday, February 13 from 4:45pm to 6:30pm. We will meet at First United Methodist Church (625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto). Food is usually served at 5pm. Please go to http://tinyurl.com/VcfpHotMeals to sign up to come. India Trip 2012!
We are planning to send a team of people from VCFP to serve with Acts of Mercy in Chennai, India this August. (www.actsofmercy.org) Tentative trip dates are July 28-August 11, 2012. Ash Wednesday
Adults and youth, please join us to observe Ash Wednesday in the church office at 445 Sherman Avenue, Suite S, from 7:30-8:00am, 12:30-1:00pm, or 5:30-6:00pm on Wednesday, February 22. (Please note parking can take a long time during lunch). At our Ash Wednesday gathering there will be a brief devotional, prayer time and communion. We will also offer traditional ashes for the forehead to represent that as humans we are “from dust and will return to dust” (Genesis 3:19), that we are sinners and need the saving work of Jesus on the cross. (Communion and ashes are completely optional).

Elizabeth’s Thank You Celebration
We are excited to celebrate and thank our outgoing Youth Director, Elizabeth Gibbons at an all church party on Saturday, February 25 from 6:30-8:30pm at Foothill Covenant Church, Los Altos. Stay tuned next week for an Evite to this wonderful evening.

Sex, Faith and Life
Sunday, March 11, 7pm, Red Rock Cafe on Castro Street

Come an join us as we explore how to follow Jesus in the midst of a culture and context that sends conflicting messages about sex and relationships. We’ll look at what the Bible has to say about sex. We’ll hear from people in our church who are single, dating and married about how they navigate relationships and boundaries. We’ll ask questions such as, “Is sex for marriage only, and if so why?” “How can i deal with longings for physical intimacy and stay faithful?” “How do we relate to each other in church as men and women?” There will be time to listen, time to share, time to ask questions, and time to pray. If you have questions, ideas please email liz@vcfp.org. To help us plan our evening, it would help us if you can RSVP to the evite which will come out shortly.

Save the Date: All Church Weekend Away
Please mark your calendars for our all-church weekend away together, October 12-14. We have booked space at Redwood Christian Park (the same venue as we have used for men’s and women’s retreats), and hope that you can all join us - men, women, families! As you plan your year we wanted you to have this date in mind. It will be a great time for hanging out, worshipping together, learning together and being a church family. Please plan on joining us...details about registration etc. will follow later in the year, but in the meantime you are welcome to email questions, ideas or offers of help to liz@vcfp.org.
